As I drove through Downtown Owosso this morning on my way to the office I realized something interesting:
The businesses that do well and don’t complain about the economy or the fact that nobody shops local……ready for this……Were open on Christmas Eve morning!
I know for a fact a few of them aren’t open on Thursday mornings anyway because they hold later evening hours on Thursdays. (For example: Images Forever Photography Studio) So I am not aiming my message at those businesses!
So on the flip side of that, there were a handful of businesses that were not open. These are some of the very businesses that are quick to wonder why business is so tough for them.
You didn’t ask for my advice, but here it is: BE OPEN WHEN PEOPLE ARE DOWTOWN!
As I sit in the office this Christmas Eve morning (I happen to be right next to the post office in Downtown Owosso at The Selleck Agency) I have seen hundreds of people walk and drive by already. Many of those people are heading right into the heart of downtown from here.
